If you purchase this from your local coffee shop daily, why not bring it from home? Use a thermos and bring your daily dose with you to work. It will cost significantly less! Same goes for that snack you might buy with your coffee or tea.

Do you really need all those "Frills"? By frills I mean extras. For example, do you pay extra for call waiting or call display? Do you really need 200+ TV stations? Why do you have more than one cell phone in your home? Think about it...everyone did just fine 20 years ago without all this stuff! Go over this and think...Do I really need this or is it just a "Want" or something "Cool". Separating this can save you a lot of money.

Pay your credit card weekly! Don't wait an entire month as you will likely not save the money you may have set aside 3 weeks earlier. As you charge items on your credit card, pay it off ASAP! I personally pay mine within 2 days of every purchase so I know my balance is always 0!

Make a budget and stick to it!

If you want to save money, I truly believe you MUST have a budget. Without a budget to stick to, you can easily spend more money than you think. You don't need to be an accountant to put a budget together either! Just make it simple. Gather all your expenses and enter each one into a spreadsheet. Subtract them from your Revenue and make necessary changes to fit you. I include all my known expenses, which is anything that stays the same month over month. This includes my cable, Internet, insurance, etc. For other things such as gas or food, I make an educated guess, based on previous history and buffer in a few extra dollars to be safe.

Another thing I would try to avoid is using Interact or Debit cards to pay for your purchases. If my food allowance for a week was $100, it's much easier to keep track of this if I keep the cash on hand so I know what is left each time I go to the grocery store. If I use Debit, I find it a lot easier to lose track and over spend!

Put a budget together ASAP and I'll bet it will be much easier to manage your money. Good Luck.

A few tips and tricks to save money

Get a voltage regulator. If you have a lot of AC power based electronics, use a voltage regulator to even out the amount of peak power you use at any time.

Buy Used Furniture. Check out used furniture if you are in school or have your first place. This will save you a tonne up front and allow you to have the cash flow for the important bills.

Take care of your health. That's right, take care of your health! Make sure you go for regular check ups, etc. This way if a problem is discovered it can be taken care of sooner rather than later, costing a lot less money.

Ease up on the take out. Cook at home a little more often! It's healthier and much more cost efficient.

Buy fresh fruits and veggies from your local farmers market. This will support your local growers and cost less than buying at the grocery store! I've managed to save a few thousand dollars over the years with the following tips:

Turn things off when you are done using them. This includes computers, TV's, lights, video game consoles, etc. There is a lot of wasted $$$ because of people not doing this! This will not only save you money, but it will help the environment too!

Review and streamline your expenses. Everyone has at least one thing they don't need. Cancel that subscription to the "Abs O Steele" magazine that you don't read anymore or the membership you don't use for the book club. If you do use a book club, try the library instead.

Don't buy all brand name products. I.e. When you go grocery shopping, why not buy the no name ketchup or pickles, rather than Heinz or Bicks? Most of these products all taste the same or very similar. You may even like the no name product better. Give it a try.

Walk or bike rather than drive. If it's possible, walk to the store or work or take your bike. Leave the car at home. You will again save money and the environment.

When you are going away for a long period of time, lower your thermostat so you don't use as much heat. There is no need to keep your house at 72 degrees when you aren't around. Even better, buy a programmable thermostat and have it done automatically for you

If you implement these tips you will start to see the savings very quickly.

Clean Out The Closet

Why not clean out the closet? Better yet, the house and the garage! Gather up all the items you no longer use or require and plan a yard sale. You could also go the route I prefer and sell it online using sites like eBay and Amazon. According to eBay, the average household has $1500 worth of stuff to sell! That's a fair chunk of change to leave lying around don't you think? Last year, we moved and put the items aside that we would like to get rid of. So far we have sold about $500 worth online and we still have stuff to sell.

Before You Purchase, Consider This

Before I go and buy anything I like to understand what I consider the true cost to be. Let's say I want to buy a Big Screen TV. This is definitely a want item, not a need. If the cost of the TV is $1000 and I make $20/hr it will take me 50hrs of work before I can buy this TV. I've excluded taxes from my pay, which will mean it will take longer to have $1000 net, but you get the picture. Now I ask myself the question, is the TV worth 50hrs of my life??? If I'm awake for 15hrs a day, the other 9 is sleeping, this represents over 3 days of my life! Ponder this the next time you go to make a purchase.

Save Money / Save Energy / Save The Environment Part 1

Saving energy around your home is easier than you think; often without spending a cent! Here are some proven tips that will start saving you money immediately. That's money you can spend on something else, and you'll also be doing a lot of good for the environment.

In the cold season (s), reduce your home a few degrees at night or when you are away. In the warm season (s), increase you Air Conditioner a few degrees.

Close blinds, shades and drapes during the hottest part of the day in the summer and open southfacing blinds on sunny winter days!

Clean or replace the air filter on your furnace every month. This will improve the furnace efficiency.

If you feel a bit cool, rather than turning up the thermostat, put on a sweater.

Use area rugs on cold floors or wear slippers. If your feet are cold, your body will feel cold.

Plant a tree! Plant leafy (deciduous) trees on the sunny side of your house. During the summer they provide shade. In the winter they will shed their leaves to let the warm sunshine through. They may also provide an energy-saving windbreak.

Turn off unnecessary lights in the house.

Take a shower rather than a bath. Showers save a lot of hot water. Here are some more tips that will help you to pay off your mortgage fast.

Round up your payments! That's right, you can save a good chunk of money by rounding up a few dollars. I had a mortgage payment of $710.88 which I rounded to $725. The extra $14.12 per payment is now going directly to the principal. This will save you a few thousand bucks if you start this early on!

Keep your payments the same if mortgage rates fall. If you are accustomed to paying $700 bi-weekly and you new mortgage rate lowers your payments to $675, keep paying the $700. Once again, the extra $25 each payment will go directly to the principal saving you a bunch in interest.

Increase your payment if your income increases. If you receive a raise each year, I would suggest increasing your mortgage payment by that amount, unless you require the money elsewhere. This will have the same affect as the above scenarios. This year I received a raise that was equivalent to just over $2000. I divided this by 26 (this is the # of payments I make per year as I pay bi-weekly) and increased each payment by $79.18. This will shave a chunk off my payments over the course of my mortgage long run.

Stay tuned for more tips in the coming days as I will be posting part 3.

Tips To Pay Off Your Mortgage Fast - Part 1

I'm going to share some tips I've used to save me a tonne of money on my mortgage thus far. If you follow these simple steps you will save anywhere from a few hundred to tens of thousands of dollars or more depending on where you are in your mortgage and its amount! The first thing I would suggest is you get an amortization payment schedule for your mortgage so you can see exactly how much money you are paying in interest and compare how much of that you can save with my tips. You can get this schedule from your lending institution, just ask your mortgage specialist. Okay, now let's save some money!

Set your mortgage up for bi-weekly payments. This will shave almost 5 years off a 25 year amortized mortgage because you end up making 1 extra payment a year compared to monthly. Let's say you mortgage payment is $1000 a month. If you are paying monthly, you would make 12 payments of $1000 for a total of $12,000 a year. If this is set up bi-weekly, you would make 26 payments of $500 for a total of $13,000 a year. You can see how this will add up over the life of your mortgage.

If you can afford it, make a lump sum payment. Most mortgages will allow you to make yearly lump sum payments to some degree. My mortgage will allow me to pay up to 15% of the principal amount yearly. This is even more effective if you have a newer mortgage because mortgages are front loaded with interest. What I mean by front loaded is that most of your payment in the early part of a mortgage is going to interest while in the last few years most of the payment is going to principal. Banks aren't stupid and they are also money hungry PIGS if you ask me so they ensure they get their interest early in case something was to happen down the road! As I was saying, these lump sum payments will go directly against the principal amount which can save you a tonne in interest of the years to come because every payment you make after the lump sum, more of these payments will go towards the principal. Let's go through a scenario. Assume a mortgage amount of $200,000 amortized over 25 years at 6% making monthly payments. Let's say 8 months into the mortgage you come into some extra money, say $2000 and applied that to the mortgage. This would save you $6544.68 in interest payments and pay off the mortgage 6 months earlier! Imagine if you could apply a lump sum each year; you could pay off your mortgage in half the time!

Stay tuned for more tips in the near future that will save you more money. In the meantime, here are some very helpful reads.

Want to live mortgage free? Click Here to find out more.

Do you currently rent? It is very easy to use and requires little or almost no effort. You get paid for doing what you already do - Searching! It’s called SlashMySearch and doesn’t have anything to do with blogging.

At SlashMySearch, all you do is sign up and make SlashMySearch your homepage (and if you like, your main search provider). So next time you search for something, don’t use Google or Yahoo or whatever else you use, use SlashMySearch. Every search you make earns you a bit more money. And since you’re probably already searching and browsing the internet everyday, now you can get paid for it! If you want to make even more money, you can be active on the forums and refer other people to SMS and get paid for their searches too! You can also make an email with them and get paid for using it!

SlashMySearch is free, easy to use, and like I said before, really requires no work on your part. They are paying us because they want more people to use their website. You can make even more money if you refer others to SlashMySearch; over $1,000 a month if you’re doing well, all by searching and having your friends sign up and search too!

It might sound pretty unbelievable, but trust me, it’s true. They can pay you by check, Paypal, or e-Gold.

Online Coupons - Keep More Money In Your Pocket!

This is a great way to save money, which means more money in your pocket, just the way you like it! I apologize for that. Now here's Part 2:

Market/Advertise Your Ebook

The next and a very important one is getting your ebook out there and marketing it to drive sales. There are various avenues you can use to do this.

Create a Website

You will need a place for people to read about and download your ebook. For this, I would register a website. Not too worry…this doesn’t cost as much as you think. Over the years the cost of having a website and domain name has gone down considerably. Here’s a few with low costs and excellent service:

Blue host
Host I Can
AN Hosting
Dream Host

Next you need to create your website. If you know a bit about html you can use programs like Microsoft Front Page or Macromedia Dreamweaver. These are both very good. If you nothing at all you get free hosting if you don’t mind some additional ads on your website. Here’s a few of those sites:

Yahoo GeoCities
Angelfire

You can find many more by doing a Google Search for “Free Websites”

Now that you have a website established you need to promote it and get lots of traffic. Remember, Traffic = Sales! First off you should find any forums or discussion boards pertaining to the product you are selling. Join as many of these as you can and start commenting on posts and place posts of your own. Become a local at these places so people begin to know you. Now you can’t explicitly promote your website in a post, but you can have a link in your signature and once in a while refer people to your site when the topic directly relates to your product. DON’T just start telling people to check out your website or you will be banned.

Another way to get sales is by selling your product on eBay. This is a simple and cheap way to get sales. The one suggestion I have here is make sure you have a professional auction. Spend the extra time to create an eye catching template as you should be posting a number of times on eBay.

You can also post your items on free classified sites such as Craigslist or Kijiji. These have millions of hits per month and are completely free! Don’t miss these.

If you know anything about Google Adwords, you should look into putting a campaign in place. This will cost some money and may not be a first option for you. Either way you should think about a campaign for down the road when you have some money. If you aren’t familiar with Google Adwords, then you should go and read more about this. I will be posting about Adwords in the coming month, stay tuned for more on that!

Word of mouth is always a good thing. If you know people interested in your item, tell them about it and they may tell their friends. Once people start hearing about your item, if it’s good the word will spread. You could also place a basic ad in your local newspaper or advertise on any free local boards (I.e. at the Supermarket), etc.

This should be enough to get you going. As time passes, you should also keep updating your ebook (if applicable) to keep the information current. You could have an opt in mail list on your site to keep people informed of new and exciting things with your product. This is a great way to build an email list for future possibilities. I will also be posting about opt in list in the near future. I hope this helps you get started on your ebook adventure and brings in many sales! Good luck and have fun with it.

Sell Information - Create and Market an Ebook Part 1

Everyone has an obsession or obsessions. This obsession is something that you have quite a bit of knowledge about or are building knowledge about. Why not turn this into an ebook that you can profit from? Quite simply, ebooks are one of the best online business ideas today and have been for a couple of years now. That’s because it costs next to nothing to create an ebook and then turn around and sell it for 100% profit! This is far superior to the usual 10% - 20% margin that you would normally receive through a traditional business.

The first step in creating an ebook is to choose your topic. You can choose anything from fly fishing to digital cameras to the history of pez and pez dispensers. It’s up to you, the sky is the limit. For the purpose of this article I’m going to use the Pez Candy and Dispenser.

Remember back in school when you had to write a short story and the layout would be Introduction, Body and Closing? This is the same format you should use for your ebook. The introduction should be anywhere from 1-3 pages in length and should be just that, an Introduction. For the Pez Candy and Dispenser I would write about when they were invented, where they were invented and by whom.

Next is the Body or the “Meat” of your ebook. For this I suggest you come up with 4-5 topics and write a minimum of 3 pages for each. I would write no more than 6 pages on each. For the Pez Dispenser my topics could be

What Pez is and what the first ones were like
Key Years in Pez History
Pez Facts
Collecting Pez
Patent Numbers and Tags

For each topic, I would have sub topics where possible. For example, Key Years in Pez history would have many sub topics that I would elaborate on, such as the year it was invented, the year it was patented, etc.

Once you have completed the Body, you want to put together a Closing. This would be ½ - 3 pages in length. It could summarize key points and draw together the topics from the body. Once this is done, you have the information for your ebook.

The next steps are

Create the ebook format (or Publishing). By this I mean .pdf or .exe files, etc.
Market/Advertise your ebook
Selling Your ebook

Create/Publish your ebook

There are many formats and software available to create/publish your ebook. I prefer PDF, but you can use Word, .exe files, HTML or others such as Embiid, Gemstar eBook or Mobipocket. PDF files are created by Adobe Acrobat. They can be read on many different computer operating systems, and will generally look about the same on each. Your ebook can include images, and there is even some limited support for audio or video clips. Links can be included both within the document and from the document to the web. The text is searchable and you can add titled bookmarks, and the user can add his or her own bookmarks and notes if that capacity hasn't been disabled by security settings. Page views are scalable, so you make the view as large as you need to have legible text. The pages can be printed if that capacity hasn't been disabled by security settings. So as you can see, PDF is quite flexible when it comes to ebooks. The only drawback to this is Adobe Acrobat can cost you several hundred dollars, but if you have it, I suggest you use it. Of course, there is also a free website that will create PDF for you. Check it out at http://www.pdfonline.com

When you are compiling your ebook don’t be afraid to add images and links. You can also use affiliate links and potentially make even more money with your ebooks. Just be sure the book looks nice and flows smoothly rather than just a bunch of images and words slapped together without any thought. If it looks awful and doesn’t flow properly you may end up with unhappy customers, which is never a good thing.

I will finish Part 2 of this post over the weekend. This should be enough to get you started.

Get Paid Write / Freelance Work

If you have a knack for writing or other freelance work you can easily make a part time income without a tonne of effort. Freelance professionals are always in demand! Many companies (big or small) will outsource work to professional freelancers everyday, whether it be writing, data entry, programming, administrative, web design, etc. If you have the required skills you can bid on these types of projects (similar to an auction) and if you win, you get the job! It’s that easy. You could also turn this into full time work if you are ok with not knowing for sure that you have a steady pay check coming in, which many people steer away from, similar to being a Real Estate Agent.

Here’s how it works: A potential employer, or anyone needing some work done that is willing to pay for it will post details of the job required. This will stay posted similar to an auction for 7 days (on average). People can then bid for the job. Your bid is how much you would charge the customer and usually some sort of time frame to get the job done. At the end of the bidding the customer can select who he/she wants to give the job to, hopefully this is you. Typically one of the lowest bids win as it’s cheaper for the customer. It also helps if the person bidding on the project has feedback, this works similar to eBay. As you complete projects the customer leaves feedback about your job.

Commonly there is a small fee for winning a project that the hosting company takes. This ranges from $1 - $5. This is where they make their income from. Below is a list of sites where you can find freelance work. I have used a few of these and been paid and will continue to.

Get A Freelancer
Highly recommended. To me if I can save money in the long run by putting more money in your pocket or not spending as much, then it’s just like making extra money! I’m going to share some tips I’ve used to save me a tonne of money on my mortgage thus far. If you follow these simple steps you will save anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars or more depending on where you are in your mortgage! The first thing I would suggest is you get an amortization payment schedule for your mortgage so you can see exactly how much money you are paying in interest and compare how much of that you can save with my tips below. You can get this schedule from you lending institution or go to ??? and put your mortgage details in here for a schedule. Okay, now let’s save some money!

Set your mortgage up for bi-weekly payments. This will shave almost 5 years off a 25 year amortized mortgage because you end up making 1 extra payment a year compared to monthly. Let’s say you mortgage payment is $1000 a month. If you are paying monthly, you would make 12 payments of $1000 for a total of $12,000 a year. If this is set up bi-weekly, you would make 26 payments of $500 for a total of $13,000 a year.

Make a lump sum payment. Most mortgages will allow you to make yearly lump sum payments to some degree. My mortgage will allow me to pay up to 15% of the principal amount yearly. If you receive a tax payment or some other form of payment that may not be expected (I.e. Inheritance, lotto winning, etc) be sure to place some or all of it towards your mortgage. This is even more effective if you have a newer mortgage because mortgages are front loaded with interest. What I mean by front loaded is that most of your payment in the early part of a mortgage is interest while in the last few years most of the payment is going to principal. Banks aren’t stupid and they are also money hungry PIGS if you ask me so they ensure they get their interest early in case something was to happen down the road! As I was saying, these lump sum payments will go directly against the principal amount which can save you a tonne in interest of the years to come because every payment you make after the lump sum, more of these payments will go towards the principal. Let’s go through a scenario. Assume a mortgage amount of $200,000 amortized over 25 years at 6% making monthly payments. Let’s say 8 months into the mortgage you got a tax check back for $2000 and applied that to the mortgage. This would save you $6544.68 in interest payments and pay off the mortgage 6 months earlier! Imagine if you could apply a lump sum each year…you could pay off your mortgage in half the time!

Round up your payments! That’s right, you can save a good chunk of money by rounding up a few dollars. I had a mortgage payment of $710.88 which I rounded to $725. The extra $14.12 per payment is now going directly to the principal. This will save me a few thousand bucks if I start this early on!

Keep you payments the same if mortgage rates fall.

This will shave a chuck of payments in the long run.

Increase your payment to the most you can afford. If you can afford to pay an extra $5 of $50 per payment, do so! I can’t put it any other way.

Here is a very interesting concept that a friend has introduced me to. I’m about half way through the book and really like the idea and what I’ve seen so far.

Craig Romero is the author of “Mortgage Cycling Revealed”. Craig is a mortgage expert and reveals how to pay off your mortgage in less than 10 years using his Mortgage Cycling process. Click here to learn more.

Here's a fast $2.00

This is about the quickest way to make $2 online today:

Check out this blog

Download the ebook. I’ve had a few ID’s since eBay was born and have sold and profited from selling all kinds of items such as posters, cans of spaghetti, watches, used cologne, books, coupons/gift certificates, clothing, ebooks and I’ve even had a few Mystery Auctions! If you have something that you think no one would buy, think again! Try selling it on eBay, registration is free. Click here to register for an ebay account or click here to check out eBay.

I would start small by listing some items around the house that you don’t need anymore. This may be cloths that don’t fit, books, movies, cd’s or just about anything you can think of. This will help you to learn more about eBay. Before you post any auctions make sure you read and understand eBay fees and PayPal (if applicable). To find out more about PayPal click here.

If you have a knack for spotting a great deal at yard sales, this could be a very profitable venture for you. A close friend of my wife’s cousin does this and makes a full time income from eBay. She goes around to yard sales, estate sales or auctions and store closures to get her inventory that she resells on eBay. Her income is between $60,000 - $80,000 USD per year. The most I’ve made in a month is $700 and that was putting in about 4-5hrs a week. I usually average a couple hundred dollars when I’m actively selling on ebay. I will use eBay a few months a year because I gather up items to sell and then list a bunch of auctions around the same time. For example, I collected about 30 items between January and March of this year and sold them in April.

I would definitely recommend selling on eBay to make some extra money! I will post more about eBay on and off through out this blog. This is just the starter. Good Luck.
